Freedom

Our instincts drive us to react and interact between ourselves on a symbolic level. The symbolic communication that underlines any interaction between us [which is our imagined self, as there is no self in the material sphere and as such cannot be measured] and the world around us. Although we can move things and change things in the material world by our own desires and thoughts, the way in which we act, what we choose to do, is governed by a symbolic system. Modern thinking teaches us to make decisions based on logic. We are seldom reminded that we study our world symbolically. Our self, our thoughts are widely at the mercy of the symbolic, at the mercy of those who are more adept at using the symbolic system. We do not blindly follow reason and logic, but the words of those who manage to align themselves with the rhetoric of symbol.

The rhetoric of symbol is felt to be closer to the truth.

It is therefore of grave importance to our freedom, to verse ourselves in the symbolic, to separate us, ourselves, from the purely material. To know and understand how we fit inside our world symbolically, is the only way to learn of and understand our own thinking. Without this, we cannot be called free. Without it, we know not the reality in which our self exists.
