A description of sorts
A colleague of mine asked me if I would
describe myself as one thing, writer or poet?
I answered writer. My argument was that poets are in love with the language, while writers are in love with the story, their story it would seem. Words are just a tool to get the story out. They should flow out of us and somehow we expect that in the process, the stuff we imagine saying just sortof clings to it. I might be alone in this but, somehow, that doesn’t sit right with me. We write because there is something we need to express, then the words just somehow happen and through this process our feelings change? We feel something, we write something, and something changes. Looking at the act of writing itself, is it the most desirable way to express ourselves? There are so many forms of expression out there. I am sick of writing random words and changing random feelings into other random feelings.
